Where to Support Women, Black and POC Owned Cannabis Businesses.
We believe in buying weed from woman, Black and POC owned businesses, and that where we spend our money as consumers, speaks volumes! Unfortunately, it’s not so easy to find those businesses, and even more worrisome, there aren’t many establishments in MA to support! We hope change is around the corner with the passing of S.3096, An Act Relative to Equity in the Cannabis Industry.
What Is S.3096?
The barrier of entry into cannabis has been difficult for equity applicants since cannabis operations began in 2018. With the recently passed S.3096, An Act Relative to Equity in the Cannabis Industry. The newly formed act will ensure that equity applicants are given first priority in cities and towns that have been historically marginalized by the War on Drugs. The act also establishes a state administered trust fund capitalized at 15%, which is generated from annual revenue by state licensees. This trust allows equity applicants access to capital, which has been a challenge for participation of many applicants.
In our personal pursuit to support woman, Black and POC cannabis businesses, we compiled a go-to list. Our hope is that their determination to break through the Glass Ceiling is motivation for more to join the #cannabis movement!
